Freedom Watch? Liberty Related Media at its Best?

I finally got a chance to watch an episode of Freedom Watch, an obscure show snuck onto the Fox Network. I’m really not even sure where they are taping the show, quite likely in the broom closet. And then they overload the show with guests, which I’m sure is a product of the means on which they are creating content – user driven. Therefore the users are far more active than the show causing a backup and ultimately an overload.

All that on the table, I think the idea is right, and possibly could cause the show to get more money from Fox and acheive a higher production value from it.

Also of note, Jason Soren, founder of The Free State Project was a breif guest getting a few oppertunities to say what he could. I think Nappally wanted to get him back on the show, or at least so it sounded. I would assume membership increased.

Sticking With the Plan

A recent post by Ian  over @ FreeKeene.com made me think about something very important involved with activism.

Here is a portion of Ians Post:

This morning I had a nice conversation with Superintendent (and Law Enforcement Against Prohibition speaker) Rick Van Wickler of the Cheshire County Jail. According to him, Sam is eating but apparently wasn’t until just recently, and that he is still not cooperating so therefore has not been classified. That means he can’t be in population, therefore he is likely in solitary confinement until he decides to submit to some of their questions and a TB test.

Something very important is occurring with Sam.

He is sticking with his plan.

Ok, so maybe he didn’t sit down Monday morning and premeditate his arrest and continues non-cooperation. Yet he no doubt considered his arrest to be a definite possibility and therefore was able to formulate an outline of plans if it were to occur.

And now it has.

Only when he is finally let go, whenever that is considering his current situation is a viscious circle where the less he cooperates the further he delays his release, will we no the true extent of his activism and sacrifice.

Do the Acts of Activists Make You Act?

As activism seems to continue on a near daily basis out in New Hampshire, it begs the question: At what point does an activist(s) actions make a difference? In a general sense, its immediately effective. The bureaucrats powers are questioned, they feel vulnerable, and the only way for them to return “order”, or restore their self professed power is to use force. This allows those who don’t quite see the gun in the room to maybe, just maybe have their eyes opened to it. And on a mass scale this is what the whole point of activism is, to open the eyes of those whom are closed.

However there are some other potential side affects to the activism, we’ll discuss two here, a positive side effect, and a negative one.

1. Positive side effect: With activism happening on a daily basis In New Hampshire, and big events happening almost weekly in Keene, current members of the Free State Project that have yet to move often move up their plans to move due to the heighten activity. And in some cases people who are still in the consideration phase of joining the Free State Project will be swayed enough to join. This is wonderful and one of the main reason that activism in Keene, New Hampshire and the rest of New Hampshire has continued to gain steam.

2. Negative side effect: Unfortunately some from an outside perspective are likely going to make conclusion about the Free Staters and their goals and motivations, as well their effectiveness. This could cause the New Hampshire media to label the Free Staters incorrectly. And if anything were to ever receive National Coverage, it may not be the best. Free Staters must make a good first impression on the national media.

That being said, likely those that will initially label and judge, without looking at the circumstances and realizing what is really occurring – aren’t the best candidates for trying to persuade to a liberty mindset. Therefore focus your powers where they will be most affective.

My New Haircut

Hello,

And thank you for visiting my New Blog! The post title is in reference to a certain hill-arious youtube video with a very similar(exact) title.

Anyways, I’ve had the idea to do this blog for some time now, and since I have some free time and some free energy I figured I’d get to it. Currently the plan is to do 3-5 posts weekly discussing topics that relate to free markets, liberatarinism, and movements involved within. I tend to lean towards not discussing the government to much in this blog as I believe it will lead the discussion down an endless path. Therefore I will try to target specific discussions that involve true competetive free markets(dreamers), and topics involving the fundamental beliefs of a libertarians.

I also plan to have at least one of the weekly posts be a compare and contrast on how a socialist market(current), and a free market(hopeful future) would deal with a specific situation. Hopefully to show over a series of blog entries how a market with government intereference hinders the growth of it, and how a free market will always adjust to the most efficient posistion.

Follow along will ya?
